GOOD FUTURE AFTER SURGERY
Almost all children with cleft lip and palate have all capacities to succeed in life. However, because of the cleft they have a huge disadvantage. They have more feedingproblems, difficulties speeking, have more medical problems, and often are social outcasts.
Jan-Jaap van der Wal presents many talk shows in the Netherlands. His clefts have been corrected, remain quite visible. However he does not seem to have any further hesitations to perform on TV.
After correction and a little of care they can go to school, learn well, provide for their own families, and smile and enjoy life.
Many famous people had cleft lip or palate. See the video of performer Wendy Harmer, who had bilateral cleft of her lip and cleft of palate, only repaired at 15 years of age.

These are some of the children we have operated on in 2009. At the moment we have provided surgery on almost 300 children and a few adults. All of them now have a bright future!
Many famous people have clefts, so certainly after correction, these children can have happy lives.
